Description
Sometimes we have to steel ourselves, turn to stone, guard against the onslaught. Like granite, we become implacable, strong, and resolute. But granite, too, can shatter or erode. It cannot sustain itself in perpetuity.
In this piece, I created a granite-like surface to talk about how I feel in some situations, but if one looks closely, the artwork is reminiscent of the lichen that grows on the granite. It, too, is resolute. But it's patient. It's calm. It endures. Eventually, small, soft lichen will fracture the granite. Perhaps one doesn't need to be stony afterall.
