Sometimes, sitting beside a lake or sea, I'm mesmerized by the waves, the ripple of light across the surface, the little bits of detritus and living organisms that dart or drift beneath it. For me, a high desert dweller, water is magic and contains within it the hope, promise, and possibility of life.
